I am one of those people who love the 2D view. It enhances the experience and offers many new options. But I also love to get results quickly because I don't have much time to play. So usually I turn off the 2D after 10 games or something.
Now since I did that quite often now, I found out that I always encountered the same thing: some players were doing great with 2D on and were utter crap without. A player averaging 8,71 in the 10 games with 2D on would get 5's and 6's in the next 10 games, while playing in the same formation and morale high.
Now, we know that according to SI, the settings don't change the game engine, so it must be me who seemed to expect things or watch out for things that would reflect my expectations. I'm still curious though whether you had experiences like that too.
I did have such experience, though i can't remember which gave worse ratings -2D or commentary. Anyway, you can't expect a player to consistently perform at 8.71, can you? At least not in 03-04.
About the commentary not fitting, one of the most startling things I've noticed is that at least 60% of the time when you get the "clean through on goal - must score" commentary the guy is out on the wing and is never going to score in a million years. Doesn't seem terribly fair to him.

Actually, you can. That player had 20 pace, 20 acc and other great stats, and that in the german north regionals. He'd score 2 or 3 every game with 2D on breakaways and he'd score almost never when 2D was off. I believe SI whenever they tell that things can't be. It's just really strange.
Actually, it's not a GQ for a reason, I think, and I might have missed it in the initial post:
to me, it seems that the differences are more remarkable the lower down you are. Like that one 20/20 forward who scored 23 goals in 10 games - he wouldn't score anything anymore in the 2. Bundesliga.
But, if you persist, I might as well post there if you prefer it.
