I love a good long game and think it only gets interesting after about 10 years. My last CM3 game was 20 years +, and I saved it to a CD. I went looking for it last week, and can I find it?...No feckking way can I find it.

I think if you are happy with what you are playing stick with it. All that glitters is not nessessary gold. CM3 was a nice stable platform which leant itself very well to the guidelines of LLM. I don't think once you are that far into a game that it can ever run its course. Even if you decide to start afresh with the new game, save you old game so that you have something to fall back on, and make sure you clearly mark the CD.

I have had quite a few long games with the CM3 series. I will always play a game and ignore any new versions if the enjoyment is still there. Usually though, there is a month or so between each new game where I have burnt out current version of the game that I am playing and ended up waiting for the new one.

Found the same thing in my game. I like the idea of strange and obscure teams being promoted, and up to 2010 my CM0304 game it was the same teams time and time again.

Yep, same for me. Only obscure team that made it up to the Conference was Enfield, after almost 15 seasons.

It's better in leagues as Spanish ones: 17 teams down each year and 17 up... You always get some 2 or 3 obscure and unknown teams each year... And it gets better with time... I'm at 2017/18 now and the quality of the teams that are being promoted to 2nd Div B is worse every year :cool:

The most beautiful thing in long term CM game is when you see one of your promoted youngsters becoming a full star and then geting nicked by a premiership club for a minimum release clause.

I am playing Norwegian league. Currently with Gjovik-Lyn in 4th season and got many many youghsters promoted. Sweet

I know that feeling. I just got a promising youngster promoted and I can see the vultures circling already. :eek: Hopefully I can hang onto him for a while.

I'm hoping to keep my 01/02 game alive. We'll wait and see.

I always try to keep a backup of a savegame on CD before giving a new version a try, that way if I don't like the new version I can always reload the old version and continue from where I left. Plus its fun to rediscover an old savegame (e.g. CM3) on an old version.
