I would like to add a little story of mine aswell. I play volleyball and the club i support has about a 0.25 Mio £ budget yearly. This obviously doesn't allow the 'scouts' to go far abraod in order to find new players. This season, we've signed a Brasilian, but the board heard from this player via a manager that had tapes from players. In order to find such players, it therefore isn't necessary to go abroad and scout.
I therefore assume that in the 'kiwi case' ;foreign managers come over to the UK with a suitcase full of videos from players in order to get them a club in the UK.

I however have to agree with the SWYCT as that's the most realitic approach to scouting in CM IMHO. Maybe you could broaden the SWYCT guideline so that you can scout the tournaments that take place in those countries. I can understand that a conference club might not have the needed dough to get a player from the World cup or so, but this might be more interesting if you've been able to get to Div 2 or so.

I think the guideline is fine as it is. Remember, it is only a guideline, so nothing there is set in stone.

Playing as a foreign manager, I tend to sign scouts that are near my homeland and use them. I don't usually get many players from there, but I feel it is realistic.

As mentioned previously, I always play with Scottish as my Nationality because...well, for obvious reasons

When I play in "foreign places" I always employ a Scottish Scout and have him constantly scouting there, because I'm Scottish, my home's in Scotland, my "contacts" are in Scotland, it'd be unrealistic in my eyes not to have at least the opportunity to sign Scottish players.

There you have it. The author of SWYCT doesn't stick rigidly to it, but it's still a good guideline. (for CM3 and its prodigy and for playing in the UK & Ireland)
