This next message may be more update than input, but so be it.

I played through about 2/3 of my season as the new Wacker Tirol manager and began to receive those always ominous messages that the board gave me a vote of confidence.

I lost a match after the latest vote of confidence and dreaded hitting the conitnue button. I did, and amazingly, this Czech born coach who hardly set the world aflame with my mediocre results in the Alps was offered the job at Southampton. Suffice it to say, I took the job.

Now I am contemplating hiring a coach with Czech and English language skills as I now am faced with the irony that I speak no English.

Not so unrealistic, i reckon. Gerard who just got his much needed time off, probably didn't know much English when he came to Liverpool and remember Hiddink who had an interpreter when managing South-Korea and Mourinho who's career started as an interpreter for Sir Bobby. English is one of the easiest languages to learn, so after a season or so, you should be able to speak it.
