Default Scouting Issues

Good day.

Me not going to discuss forum rules and guidelines (though it's pretty cold here in Rus, me not wants to burn ). The question is (for those who live in UK) - how long would it take (in hours and money; hours less important) to travel from, say, Telford, to Ireland, Wales and N. Ireland?

The reason for questioning is scouts hiring:
- if i sign a scout from Eng and tell him 'scout Eng', then, probably, pds50 p/w would be enough for him (assuming it's a part-time job for him then), and they do agry.
- if i tell the same guy 'scout Irl', then, probably, 50 won't be enough, assuming the need to get to Irl would arise (money?), and then to live/work there full time with no other sources of finance; will he survive?
- if i sigh Irl guy to do that job in Irl, then it's again ok, as in 1st situation.

What i'm trying to figure out is maybe scout's origin and area of scouting should be the same in the very LL? Even here in Rus a man would spend $100-400 on hired living place, and with a salary of 50 it's fairly impossible.

So, am i messing something up (again ), or this has some valid points?

P.S. Excuse my poor English

From Telford to Wales is a short car jouney, the scout could stay in Telford and drive to any Welsh game within a few hours.
From Telford to Ireland would mean flying or catching the ferry. Flying would take about 3-4 hours to allow for getting to Manchester for a cheap flight to Dublin (approx £50 return). Most scouting could be done in day trips but accomodation is not too expensive if the scout stays over for a few different games, say over a weekend.
N. Ireland is similar although flights are a bit more expensive.
No scout could afford to live on £50 per week, scouts are generally part time, and have other full time jobs, and will get expenses to cover travel and accomodation from the club for specific duties.
In general scouts will go to evening and weekend matches locally and report any talent they find.

No need to appologise Andy. Your english is far better than many of the natives from the rainy island.

As Church said, the scouts are usually on a part time wage. Personally I find scouts are screwed in CM0304. Sending them away on a tour gets you few results, and the players they do find are usually sub-standard.

 That really helps!

So, it turns out to be ok to offer part-time scout job to an Ehglish-man and expect him to produce some results from scouting (actually the whole) Kingdom [something like 'well, anyway i'm going there to visit my grandma, why not go and see a couple of local matches?']? What i was amused about is that i offered them a full-time ones. Should change that.

Assuming short travel distances (and, thus, a potential ability to know about them) it also seems pretty fair to have some guys offered a part-time job to scout their native countries, though some part of me is still unsure. Ideas are welcome!

Well, thanks on a warm words

Screwed up scouts? You mean, finding 27 year old Antigua & Barbuda internationals while being ordered to perform a 'Youth search'? But that's a whole another (and probably not an LLM issue)...

In my current Argentina-game, my scout discovered a Greek left full-back on his South-America journey. I know, his stats are rubbish, but at least he could know that Greece is not in South-America?
