I'd say it's more like a fruit than a queer, Devon. It's more of a friendly term than a derogatory one.
...and on here it's a term of endearment |

Yeah, but queer has become a bit of a friendly term over here, that's how I meant it, why I referenced the TV show. I was hoping that would imply the friendly nature. |

Very helpful, "men". I'd have to agree with my partially American friend. Queer is probably a bit nicer than fruit over here in the land of the free and home of the brave.

quote:
Originally posted by walidneaz:
i just want to know how all these crap started in the first place. i post a reply on 'the lower league' and apparantly i did something wrong, when i was just posting a genuine reply to the topic.
people are supposed to be helpful here, i have no idea why everyone's just poking fingers at everythign and looking for trouble. i just wanted an opinion to my original question and that's it. period.
and tell me that you actually are in support of corporate america? im referring to those practices, politics, not america as a whole.
dont accuse me with your own hypothesis when you dont even know me.

Dude, I'd challenge you to a battle of wits, but I fear that you are unarmed.
If you look above, you will see that:
1. My first reply was friendly enough, so you're wrong on that count.
2. You were too stupid to read my post about Americans and sarcasm. The American understanding of sarcasm is often different to the UK one, and I have discussed this with folks here before. I could have dealt if you had not understood me because English may not be your first language and disussed further with you what I meant, but you ruin things with your next post.
3. You then said, and I quote: "im not an american. i have been staying here only for the past 3 months. that dont make me any americans, trust me, i hate the american ways as much as anyone else would be."
This says nothing about corporate America. I am not an American, but my wife and son are, and I find that statement offensive. I happen to disagree with many practices of Corporate America, but that is not what you were talking about. Again, if English is not your strong point, think especially carefully before you answer in such terms.
So to summarize. I gave you a pleasant and informative reply to your question, and you attacked my adopted country, when you misunderstood (deliberately or otherwise) a comment I made to someone else. If you had asked what I meant I would gladly have explained, but you got aggressive.
I suggest you piss off until you learn some manners.

I'd like to point out my post was meant to be before jcb's rant...which I've only now read...and which makes my post...well, anyway.

The correct term is Desert Rat, my friend. It sounded like you were on this side of the water, so if true, then naturally you are some percentage American already. It's not called the great melting pot for nothing.
