And, back on topic, he is the playmaker in my Cheltenham side that just scored a Div 3 record 109 goals last season. Transfer listing him is not really an option if I wish to continue scoring goals.

Yup. Don't want to say too much (or risk bragging too much). I joined Cheltenham when they were in the bottom 2 of Div 3 near the end of 2004-05 (I think). The squad was way too good for Div3 in my opinion - how they got there I don't know. I saved them, promoted a couple of near-wonderkids from the U-19s and signed one extra half-decent striker. Stuck it in the oven at Gas Mark 4 and by the end of the season they had walked away with it. All I did differently from the AI was put the good players in regardless of their age, so I can't claim too much of the credit.
The squad looks good enough for Div1, tbh. So we'll see if Division 2 is more of a challenge. I've only played one game of the new season, a 3-2 win at Crewe where I had to come from behind twice. It looks like we may at least concede more in the higher Division.

It's a bug with the player response to this. It happens to me even if I offer them a new contract after the "play well for the next month" option too. It seems the player does not recognize that he got a new contract. It stinketh. I'm to the point now that I simply tell him "forget it" then offer him one when I'm ready to.

109? That's nothing. In the Zealot online game, my Doncaster team scored 120 when winning promotion to Division One.
