Totally unrealistic and has been like this for as far back as I can remember.

My season has gone down to the last game of the season. I need a home win over Luton to seal Automatic Promotion and possibly the title...

My average attendance to date is just under 10,000.

So taking into account that this is a MASSIVE game, the games attendance.... 9,954!

And I lost. The attendance for the play-off game at home... 9,530!

Sort it out SI. It's been like this since Championship Manager '93!

Totally agree.

It's not just the smaller clubs that are affected though, even large clubs like Man Utd are well under their average attendance on the game, which is a huge loss of revenue. The game can sometimes drop as low as (ahem) 70,000, which is close to 6,000 under capacity, which is an issue when you consider in real life the club sells out every league game.

Same goes with season tickets. I am playing Arsenal and after winning the premiership and the FA cup the sale of season tickets falls greatly prior to the second season. I think there is a bug in the system....

I also agree. In my own experience of CM/FM key promotion/relegation or title matches never seem to get the attendance boost that I would have expected in reality.

I think the attendance calculation needs to be tweaked a bit to reflect the importance of these matches rather than simply treat them as an ordinary game.

In FM06 I managed to win a minor league title with my club and despite this I noticed my attendances were decreasing towards the end of the season rather than increasing.
I was a little disappointed by that as I assumed that even at a lower level a good promotion or title challenge would be reflected in the gates.

If I'd been sliding down the table with a poor run of results then I would have understood the attendance drop.Incidentally my final home game that season (where my team
should have been parading the gleaming virtual trophy attracted one of the lowest crowds of all!.

Compared with other key issues that people aren't happy about (and we all know what they are ) attendances probably don't seem that important.I'd still like to see them
tweaked for the better though.

Totally agree.

I took my trophy winning Liverpool team down to play Taunton Town (my local team) in a friendly 'cos I wanted to boost their revenue etc.

Not only was there an under capacity crowd, but they started leaving early because they'd seen enough once they they were 3-0 down - what ??!!

(Still on FM2007 by the way)

Glad it's not just me then.

Also agree that in the grand scheme of things, it's not the most important error at the moment. But it is something that has been this way for 15 years now and thought it might have been sorted or even noted by now.

On a lsightly different note, but perhaps not worthy of a new thread.

I am watching Inter v's Reggina in the Italian Cup on Gol TV. I can't find anywhere that will tell me the actual attendance, but to guess I would say 10-15,000.

We all know the top Italian sides have pretty much zero interest in the cup, which is reflected by very low attendances.

However, I am currently Inter on FM and my Italian Cup average attendance is........66,000  WTF is up with that?! My Serie A average is only 57,000 and my Champions League only 60,000. Makes no sense that the weakest, lowest reputation competition brings in the largest crowds.
