Default Upgrading from XP to Vista? Any problems with FM?

I'm thinking of upgrading to Vista, but the only thing stopping me is the thought of somehow losing my long term FM game! Is there anyway I could safeguard it?

Copy the folder with your save games in to a cd or usb stick then copy it back when you've upgraded.

Only thing I would add is make sure you have plenty of ram. I would suggest at least 2gb.

Yeah, Vista uses RAM more efficiently than XP, so 2GB is a must.

4GB for preference.

Burn your 'Sports Interactive' folder onto a cd-rom, heck, burn it twice for good measure. That 's a fairly good safeguard

More RAM wouldn't hurt either. Keep in mind that Vista chews RAM just to sit there and look pretty. Before you even fire up FM.

You can't have too many opinions before doing something like upgrading your operating system.

Here's the opinion of the well-respected Forbes.com

The hack in question is an well renowned Mac Fanboy of little stature, but he does have one point - don't upgrade!!

Buy an OEM copy if needs be and do a full install with your personal files backed up, transfering files and settings and folders seldom works properly on any OS.

Yes. Unless there is a very good reason to switch, stick to XP. Your FM game will continue without issue.

I don't see what the writer's height has to do with the discussion

He seems to have a lot of previous experience with Microsoft operating systems for a Mac fanboy but I'll take you at your word.

Although I think it would be extremely helpful to the original poster if someone who actually uses Vista could argue against Mr Mane's criticisms/bad experiences
