As many of you are aware, there have been multiple threads about the regens being broken in the long-term games. My issue, however, is different.
I have a theory, and that theory is that the AI get better regens than a player-controlled team. I have always enjoyed home-grown players, and thus always worked very hard to give the youth players the best facilities as possible. However, this has never really benefitted me in any way. Over perhaps 20 seasons with Premier League teams, I have never had a player that my coaches reported to have more than two stars. This made me ponder, and therefore I took my Roma save game where I am in 2012, and reloaded it 25 times just before a new season with fresh intakes of youth players. And NONE of them had more than two stars. However, in the years before the AI had had a wonderkid and several very nicely players, with 3-4 stars. However, in a test of 25 save games, I didn't manage to get a single Serie A player?
I know, I know, it's random. But it just seem highly unlikely that Roma shouldn't get a good player from their own youth academy for 25 seasons!
Have anyone had similar experiences, or am I just being absurdly unlucky?
Also, apologies if this particular topic has been discussed elsewhere.
Scout reports can sometimes be a poor reflection of how good a player actually is, certainly regarding his CA & PA.
One way to check this would be using Genie Scout or FMM to actually see the CA & PA figures.
I have done this before and on a few occasions, found regen youth players that my scouts did'nt rate, to have "wonderkid" equivalent PA.
Another thing to note is that just because a player does'nt have the highest CA or PA, within reason, they can often still make an impact at the highest level. I've had players who scouts might not rate as Premier League level, but who have performed exceptionally as a part of the team, had good overall attributes and quickly risen in reputation and value.
Essentially, it might be worth looking more into the figures via a scouting/editing tool at regens. If that's not your thing, and the regens have "look" decent with good attribute levels, give them a try - sometimes you can be surprised how wrong the scouts can be.
i used my regens at r. madrid regardless of my coachs' opinion, and they turned into great players overtime...
however, i would rather buy regens from other clubs. i agree that, at least stats-wise, AI regens are usually better. thats why i enjoy scouting spanish lower league teams every close season.
There are literally thousands of different AI clubs in the game world and generally only one human player. Due to that fact alone the AI will get more, quality regens due to the law of percentages.
Also, re-loading the same season 25 times is not the same as running 25 seasons of the game.
I think that in order to get a fair representation, you would have to play 25 seasons and, at the end of each season, compare every AI club's regens with yours (in a PA sense) and work out the average of quality players over that time.
