Can someone tell me how to back up original data before putting on the legends update and if i want to how to get the legends update off/and on
could someone just explain it simpler please thanks

Go in to your Football manager folder in Sports interactive inside Program files and right click on Data, then click copy then click paste in a seperate folder all together. Edit away then if your not happy with your work just place the copoed data back in over riding the edited version!

Hope it makes sense! I know there is probably a way using the editor but this works for me.
