WOW what game are u playin.I play with multiple teams in multiple leagues at many different lvls.i dint stop seeing it.What troubles me the most is that i have recentlty watched a ten ai games to see how many times the 4-2-4 was employed by the ai against itself when in similar positions.Who wants to guess how many times when dwn by 1 goal or less it was used.NONE!!Bug no.Just a stupid attempt by people who obviously dont even watch the game to even the score with the so called guru's.Dont get me wrong this is my favourite game in the world.Just annoys the crap out of me when im playing all over lesser opposition and in the final 10 mins they employ a ridiculous unrealistic approach and my players all fall apart and i have some no body midfielder youve never heard of hit a 30 yrd screamer..Just doest happen!

Perhpas my approach is intrinsically very effective against the 4-2-4. Who knows. Therein lies my main gripe with this game- sometimes I have no idea why what I do works, or why it doesn't.

That came out wrong.Or i was simplt irritated fater conceeding to necastle in the 94th minute.2-2 final score.Anyway,ive been thinkin i might look and keep a note on all the AI mistakes that go in my favour.Will post some results soon.Was playing the other day and the ai had a shocker in a few games.Im just one of those diks that only remembers the bad.I am enjoying the fact that its harder.I beat Chelsea to the title by 1 point last season.Was awesome all the way to the end.In days gone by i would have won it weeks ago.4-2-4 is nasty and hard to stop.But you can stop it.Employ some of the advice u get here as i have and u should notice some change.But primarily isnt this what we all wanted.As i have said before winning the CL with Kiddermister from Conf in 6 years is obviously impossible.So what they have done is make us work for it.And even though i hate that tactic,I will bust it to pieces eventually!And winning when its easy is never as satisfying as winning when its hard.

Have tried to implement the following in my game tactics when 1 up towards the end of the match:

- barrows on the fullbacks
- manmarking (4 defenders)
- 1 defensive midfielder (cld have barrow)
- long balls towards target man
- counter attack

Any comments?

Side arrows on the strikers are good too, if you're playing narrow.

Interesting I love it when they do this. Switch time wasting to max and I rarely concede and usually miss a great chance to finish the game off... Maybe you are just on an attacking formation and therefore they break through

To the person who was annoyed that the 4-2-4 in AI vs AI matches didn't produce the same amount of comebacks as in AI vs Human:

It's not that difficult to explain. The AI team that was in the lead is obviously reacting to the 4-2-4 their opposition employs and changes their own tactic accordingly. The sole reason the 4-2-4 works like a charm against human managers is because we fail to counteract it in any way (which is a pretty unrealistic way for a manager to react )

i rarely have a problem with the late goals, probably because i like fast, wide wingers, fairly long passes, at least one pacey striker and counter-attacking.

i play a 4-4-2 with both center backs dropping and everyone but them closing down. i rarely have to tweak just to stop a 4-2-4; it usually exposes them more than me.

i do, however, seem to be very vulnerable to players scoring their "first goal ever!" and i really hate the sissified description of how they "wheel away in delight" afterward.
