Rep Power: 0 | How do you setup a counter-attacking tactic
Hi guys
Can someone please help on how to setup a counter-attacking style for a league 1 team (bournemouth), I keep trying ang keep failing.
I also want my defence to defend as one unit and then hit the oppostion on the break, so would it be best to play a slow tempo and mixed passing.
Or is it best to use a global mentality for counter-attacking teams.
Cheers mike

I recommend the 4-3-3 normal tactic for a counter attack. It has a DM for defensive aid and two wingers which are key for a counter.
Then only change some team instructions. Mentality first notch normal (or last defensive). Then play quick, wide and direct (all first notch, though match passing with the others), play a deep defensive line, low closing down (once again, first notch after it changes description name) and play down the wings.
If other teams are not playing defensive against you, tick counter attack as well.

No as far as I'm aware you want a fast tempo because a counter attack needs to be quick and direct before the opposition can get it's players into defensive positions.
I would suggest playing 4-3-3 with 2DMC's so you have 6 players defending to soak up the pressure you want to take and then have the other 4 players (MC,wingers,FC) playing in very attacking roles and staying up all the time. Make sure they have lots of pce (and perhaps the full-backs for support).
Set mentality to defensive, defensive line to deep, check counter attack. Targetman might work, but I don't think a playmaker would. Lots of farrows I think for the 4 attacking players.
However considering I'm not a tactical genius by any stretch of the imagination (quite the opposite arguebaly) so someone might want to clarify all that. It makes sense to me in theory.
