It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

There is a thread in the General Questions Forum called Dafuges Challenge, which is a small club challenge. Now the sheer number of people playing that and the number of people who have managed to rise to the top of the premiership does suggest that this game is playable at all levels.

However one important caveat exists. If you choose to use the same tactic with a nonleague side and then use it with a premiership side the tactic will not work . There are specific ways to play a nonleague side, the players you choose for your side, even the training schedules are critical.

Incidentally the club I used was Merthyr Tydfil which when you start the game is unplayable. You need to be unemployed for a season, and hope they get promoted to Conference South.Their rise to the premiership has been nothing short of meteoric. But 'nuf said about them.

Some of the big tacticians aren't on the board as much, tbf, all of us have grown up as well. Some of us hardly have time to play the game, and this is in no way indicates that the game has suddenly become too tough.

I do feel that the game is inherently simple; with the use of simple logic anyone can succeed at the game. What I have noticed is this desire on the boards to overcomplicate what should be an otherwise simple game.

Hi Rashidi, I think you make a very good point about pepole who try to over complicate the game.

Take WWfan for example, His threads are nothing short of fantastic, The work and effort he has put in is incredible, And his theories are very good and I think he would probably make a very good FM in real Life, But I just feel that the match engine in efect restricts your some what. Im not saying that its really poor just could do with a little more work which I think the majority of people if being honest would agree.

Also you get some people like Gabi80 for example who use 1 system home any away and get the same results as others who constantly change the way there team play.

I mean I myself have had great sucess with Ajax & Man Utd as have hundreds of others but just cant seem to replicate not the same results of course but comparible good results for the team im using.

I mean Cleon for example won the prem 1st go with sheff utd, Now I like others have read his thread and noted his changes very closely and yet no one has been able to get into the top 6 with Sheff Utd let alone win the prem.

Now im not taking anything away from cleon, And before anyone says im doubting his reults im NOT. Just puzzles me how this can be.

I dont know maybe its me, Im gonna keep trying because Ive been playing the Fm series since Italia 90 and I totally love the series just cant seem to get to grips with this version.

But thanks again for your feedback

I'm going to be honest, never have I experienced this problem. The tactics I use always tend to get my team to meet expectations or better.

Actually, it's been very realistc for me, down to the tiniest detail. When I was at Yeading, I played a 4-4-1-1 and was somehow top, but, probably due to the difference I other tams style, the same tactic got me destroyed in Wales.
