Default Loosing game in second half?

I often go into halftime leading 2-0 or even 3-0 but almost every time the other team comes out and scores within a few miniutes and they often goes on to draw or win the game.

I`ve tried to go defensive, more narrow and counter and i`ve tried to stay with my tactic but it seems whatever I do the other team just run me over.

The worst part is when the AI goes 4 2 4 on me to score the winner, I`ve not found a good way to defend against this crazy tactic.

My tactic is a 4 4 2 diamond and I play around alot with individual mentalitys as described in Unbeaten combination of Cleon&wwfan.

What should I do? Any ideas?

Best regards/ psandstr

what do you always say to your players at half time when your team is leading 2-0 or 3-0?half time team talk could have a huge affect to your players' morale.

In-Match tactical considerations

1. Check what your possession is like after 10 minutes. It should be at least 53%... This means you are controlling the game. If it gets to 55% in favour of the AI it means your tactic is not working and you need to make changes sooner rather than later.

Switch from your home to your away tactic if this is the case and vice versa if you are playing away.

2. Take stock of the situation at half time? Are you winning? If you are and possession is good stay with what you are doing.
If you are behind look at your squad and see if there are any weak spots... Someone with a 5 or 4 would be a good candidate to sub out at this time.

3. The 60 minute mark is another time to take stock of your situation. Even if you have to pause the game momentarily to check possession and players health do so and if need be make necessary substitutons. Always try to leave one sub on the bench in case of an injury and make sure you use your other subs thoughtfully.

4. At the 70th minute of a game switch over to the formation page and look at what the AI's formation is. If you are winning by a goal this is a crucial step as from anytime from now onwards the AI is likely to change to a 4-2-4.
As SOON AS YOU SEE THIS you need to make a tactical change yourself... a shut up shop response... I personally recommend the shut up shop tactic that can be found in here:

http://community.sigames.com/eve/for...7/m/4422073592

This is an excellent counter attacking tactic created by 'The Next Diaby'. It maintains an extrememely defensive mentality but also counterattcks the weaknesses of a 4-2-4 and will often snatch you goals.

5. If you get to the 75th minute and are trailing by 1 or 2 goals then it is time to get serious and full on attack. You have nothing to lose so launch a 4-2-4 against the AI. The best I have seen that implement this is WWfans Bludgeon tactic here:

http://community.sigames.com/eve/for...7/m/4982046692

You don't need to tweak this just change to it and hope for the best. I find it has about a 50% success rate which is better than just giving up and losing.
The important thing to remember is that if you score you need to look at what the AI does in repsonse. If he doesn't respond stay on it and look for a winner. If however he changes to a 4-2-4 tactic then you need to also change immediately to the shut up shop tactic which is your best chance at holding out for a draw or even sneaking a winner.

6. At the end of the game look at your possession and shots on target. At least 53% possession is what you want to see and hopefully this translates into shots on goal.

I hope this helps you. I use this strategy and have lots of success withit. I have started games with 45% and a goal down very quickly but have ended up tactically outclassing my opponant by acting and reacting to the situation and not just being a passive watcher of it.

Good luck.

Thanks for your replies.

I often have problems to dominate possession when I play with direct passing ´(counter attack) and i`m not sure how to tweak, slower?

Change passing and tempo to short and slow (not good for CA?)?

What can I do when I´m not dominate possession when I´m already short passing with slow tempo?
With high tempo and direct passing it gets worse

Is there any "simple rules" about tweaking passing, tempo, width and maybe timewasting?

I think it is very hard to get them right even if I watch the whole game, it seems like if i not get all of them right it is just getting worse.

I feel really lost right now.

Are your possession problems at home or away?
What level of quality are your team in your league?
What sort of mentality are you using at home? away?

Are your possession problems at home or away?

Away mostly or at home in wet conditions when I try direct/high tempo.

What level of quality are your team in your league?

I`m Cambridge and I´m in the second season PL and my players are about midtable/low midtable quality.

What sort of mentality are you using at home? away?

I`m using 14 different mentality tactics (RoO) and when playing at home and if not heavy underdog I go for 10-14 (attacking).

Away if I´m not favorite I start with 5-9 (normal).

I take it you downloaded those tactics from somewhere? If so have you tweaked the tactics to suit your players?

ie/ Long shots, run with ball, creative freedom etc?

I`ve not downloaded these tactics as they are pretty much the same all of them.

The only thing that is different are the individual mentalitys wich is one click up for every tactic (tactic 1 is lowest, 14 is high) and forward runs for fullbacks (rarely on 1-7 and mixed on 7-14).
Forward runs for wingers are mixed on 1-7 and often on 7-14.

Passing is global for every position except short for strikers and AMC.

Close down is global except for defenders who are on low.

Before every game I look at the scout report and decide if i am going to defend or attack, short or direct, wide or narrow and so on.

When the game starts I will try to find the mentality who works best, this is ussually not the problem, I often go in to halftime with a 2-0 lead. (Í`m not dominating yet I`m winning??)

When I decide passing, tempo and width I try to use CLEONs method with doing the opposite against the opposition.

However, I`ve found that the problem is when i look at the matchstats, I rarely have passing over 70% and possesion is often less than 50%.
(Í`m not dominating yet I`m winning??)

You said earlier that if possesion is good and i´m winning to stay on the same settings but if I do that the opposition very often comes out and score after halftime.

Like I said, I don`t think it`s hard to find the right mentality setting but I`m very confused when it comes to passing, tempo and especially width.
