It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Hello everyone welcome to this thread. Im making this thread in the hope that people within the forums will help re-create the Arsenal team of 2003/2004.

The things that I will need to take into consideration are tactics and formations, players that are as close as possible to the team of 2004 and training scheduals that suit the Arsenal way. I have seen other tactics meant to replicate the arsenal way on the forums but they usually just play godd winning football not quite the arsenal style.

Arsenal 2003/2004 best 11:

Lehmann

Lauren Campbell Toure Cole

Ljungberg Edu Vieira Pires

Bergkamp Henry

That was the first 11 I will scout players and see which players are as close as possible to the real 11 any suggestions ?

Good thread. But my suggestions are boring.

You already have lehman.

Eboue = Lauren

Campbell = Micah Richards

Toure = You have

Cole = Clichy

Ljungberg = Hleb

Edu = Diaby

Viera = Diaby

Pires = Ribery

Bergkamp = Van Persie

Henry = Henry/Torres

Gilberto you also have.

These are imo and im not sat at fm08 so im thinking in real life here.

Thanks alot for your reply if Richards had better positioning I would sign him sadly its only 13, with a bit of training fabregas can play the vieira role, there is no way diaby can play the edu role not a team player not disciplined im going to play flamini here until I find someone better im looking at benzema for the henry role but I am happy with adebayor there for now I have signed Maxi Rodriguez for the ljungberg role and have decided on rosiscky for the pires position, so to make everything clearer.

Lehmann

Eboue Campbell Toure Clichy

Maxi. R Flamini Cesc Rosisky

Van persie Adebayor

Now we have got the team, I want to establish the formation and shape of the team before we get into anything complicated in my opinion there are three possible formations 4-1-3-2,4-4-1-1, 4-4-4, any other suggestions would be welcome maybe even a 4-2-3-1.

Is there anyway to post highlights of my pre season game the 4-1-3-2 looks to have real potential and i scored one or two very arsenal 2004 like goals, if someone could be kind enough to tell me how to post my saved game to see the goals and formation at work that would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance

The Formation is a 4-1-3-2

Team Instructions

Mentality first notch of attacking
Creative freedom first notch of much
passing six notches to the left
closing down often
Time wasting first notch of rarely
Defensive line first notch of push up(I might change this to suck the opposition in)

Focus play is mixed everything else is unticked.

Defence

Closing down is on team for the whole team, man marking for two centre backs the rest of the settings for the centre backs are obvious. The fullbacks have foward runs set to often and run with ball mixed the rest rarely.

Defence mentalities are staggered DC'S-5, FB'S-7

The Holding player

This player has all the same instructions as the centre backs but mentality is 9 creative freedom is also 9 I have done the same thing also for the back 4 and have mirrirored creative freedom and menatality.

Next is the Attack

leave the menatlity and creative freedom on team all of them have foward runs often apart from the right striker who has rarely foward runs they all have through balls often and run with ball mixed no rarely crossing for the whole team im currently experiment with free roles.

This has worked during pre-season but I still think it could be improved or made even more realistic any suggestions to instructions, formations etc are welcomed

I think Hleb should be more suitable for the Bergkamp role in the hole dont you think so?

What patch are you playing this on?

Hleb's decision making and anticipation is very poor latest patch on the general forum if You want it.

The formation started well in the premiershi but already is starting to show weaknesses pwingers aren't cutting in van persie is not dropping back going to make a few tweaks that I think might help and play them for a couple of games, Im still not sure for what tempo to use that replicates arsenal

Fast tempo and slow passing will work with a side like yours. The 03/04 side, wingers were not crossing the ball so make sure you have crossing to rarely and perhaps put a darrow to the AMC position for the wingers so that ensures them to cut in.
