Default Who should I buy to avoid relegation?

Well, I just managed to get Crystal Palace promoted (started off poorly but then had an amazing run through to the end, winning by four points) but I do not think my team is ready for the Premiership... or Europe.

In the championship, I won the league cup (notable victories: portsmouth, reading, manchester united, blackburn (final)). Beat liverpool (2-2 anfield, 0-0 st selhurst park with penalties winning) in the FA Cup before going out in the 6th round to Manchester United.

Anyway, after that brief summary of my season, I am promoted. I have 13m transfer fund (probably able to go a bit higher if i adjust wages) and could do with advice.

Team:

GK - Speroni (At club)
DL - Tony Craig/Jeff Hughes (At club)
DR - Danny Butterfield (At club)
DC - Breno (1.9m in January 2008 - transfer window closed before the permit was accepted in august)
DC - Mark Hudson (At club)
DM - Mark Lawrence (At club)
DM - Carl Fletcher (At club - CAPTAIN)
MC - Tom Soares (At club)
AMC(L) - Nacer Barazite (50k Arsenal)
AMC(R) - Paul Ifil/James Scowcroft (Both at club)
FC - Frazier Campbell (1m Manchester United Reserves, top scorer for me last season - 29 goals, 21 in league)

Others:
GK's: Rui Patricio (I think, not sure on name), Vito Mannone, Zac Barret.
Defenders: Not many, had Jose Fonte and Jack Hobbs on loan last season, sold a few defenders...Probably needs more players.
Midfielders: Ben Watson, Patrik Lomski.
Forwards: Clinton Morrison, Dougie Freedman, Rui Pedro.

I have an offer for Lyon's Fred accepted, he rejected my first offer of 34k a week (he is on 15k...) so I am trying again with other clauses. Also tempted by Jaon Koumas (wigan).

So... comments?

You need a player who can mess up the other teams defense no matter who it is, try samassa the forward from le mans.

Most teams will be favourites against you and are more likely to attack. When i got promoted, i went for pace throughout the team and i ended up one of the leagues top scorers and i got into Europe in my first go.

Basically, dont sit back and defend just because youre the 'weaker' team. You win a game by scoring more than the other team, so go out there and attack. With this in mind, search for some flair players, and like i mentioned lots of pace will help you on the counter.

Also keep on eye on the freebies and transfer listed players you can get as these can be invaluable. I got Bonazolli and it was his goals that pushed the team up the table. Also got Flamini for cheap and he was my most consistent player making everythin tick nicely, ending up as the clubs captain.

Replace Speroni as he isn't good enough for the Prem. Try Itandje (sp?) from Liverpool or Danut Coman the romanian guy. Sergio Arias is class but may struggle to get a work permit.

Jack Hobbs on loan.

I bought pablo piatti, but samassa doesn't want to join The Eagles.

Quite a few players don't want to join me, even if I am offering 20k a week more than them.

I shall see about Goalkeepers.

Thanks for the help so far, more is welcome.
