Hi - I'm new here but have been lurking for a couple of weeks.
I have a read the forum header and rules (regarding editors and altering the database) and done a search but still am not sure - so I'm gonna have to ask!
With the Official patches SI have released (I'm using 4.1.5) there is a text file called 'suggested_transfers' which is a list of alternations to the database and as I understand transfers that occured between the database freeze and the game release plus other errors to contract details, player positions and attributes.
Now I know the use of editors is banned and I'm not trying to start a flame war, I'm just interested where these changes fit in the LLM rules of changing the database in your opinions - seeing as it is in an official SI patch.

I've seen that file. It's a list you'd have to use the editor for, right?

I think that rules it out from an LLM standpoint because of the secondary problem as much as the primary one - that using the editor tends to lead to corrupted .sav files more frequently and that ruins long term games. I agree that it would qualify as an "SI approved" edit, but would never use it myself.

Yeah - you would have to use and editor - this was my point its and SI approved update but you need an editor.

As I said, I think that rules it out. Problems with editing the DB file go beyond the obvious cheating ones - see the "Explanation of Forum Rules" sticky thread.

If it were a custom config file like "RETRAIN_PLAYERS" then I think it might be more acceptable.

I'm still not sure as to how you'd change player attributes, positions or contracts from the 'suggested_transfers' file without the use of an editor - this cannot be done through .edt or .ddt files can it?

As far as I am concerned, anything that I can download directly into my CM directory (from SI) which then updates the existing files is fine, anything I have to adjust manually using an editor or transfer myself manually into files or folders is not. I do not care if there have been transfers after my game start date, it is generally irrelevant to my level of playing. I just wait until the next game or update.
Just my two penn'orth.

Also, can someone send me the "RETRAIN_PLAYERS" file, I would like my players to be re-trained to actually play football

Sorry Church, can't get you the RETRAIN_PLAYERS as I seem to be missing it too (and apologies for rehashing my dreadful joke from the other thread).

HG Noel - I don't believe you could do it like that anyway. I was merely commenting that the "update" would be more LLaMa friendly if you could utilize a custom file that SI had provided. I think Church has summed it up very well in that most of us are unaffected by those few transfers included since by the time any of those players would be relevent in our games they would have aged dreadfully and been transferred several more times.

I agree church the use of .edt would be pointless and take ages to write - and its true the only info that is relavent to LLM is the conference and non league team updated info - but I was interested to see people's view on a SI 'update' that we couldn't as a LLM implement.
