Success, I suppose, is relative to what the expectations and position are at the point where the benchmark is created, so to speak.
Given the expectations - achieve a safe mid-table position - and the position - 13th in the Division, 2 points above relegation, 17 points behind the Leaders - then a finishing position of 5th - 33 points above relegation and 23 points behind the Leaders - is pretty successful, so why am I slightly disappointed?
Last game of the season saw us one point ahead of Newcastle in 4th place - CL spot - with lowly Man City to play at the City of Manchester Stadium while Newcastle had relegated Birmingham to play at St James' Park.
We went 2 down before we had a chance to draw breath, despite being on top with possession and shots. A bit of a huff and puff performance saw us drag it back to 2-2, but by that time Newcastle had cantered to a 5-0 victory and 4th place.
(Man City's goalie got MoM and they were nearly bottom, Devon

So now I'm weighing my options. I said I thought this was a one season deal, but the closeness of CL football has got me interested, and now Arsenal have offered me the job.
I reckon another season at Ewood Park and see what happens.
Nice batch of U-19's just been promoted...
