After the sacking I was approached by Charlton and took over just before the final game of the season, which we duly won 2-1 at home to Northwich Victoria to finish in 12th place.
The Board had expected us to win the League and gave us £12.75m to do it. We spent £990k on seven players in the close season and had 13 youngsters promoted from the Youth Academy, two of whom look like prospects.
Five left for a combined total of £1.825m.
The first season proper began with the Board giving us a "conservative" transfer fund of £13.75m because of my "extravagant" spending of the previous season. (£990k

) and telling us they expected us to win the 2nd Division.
We sold a further five players for a combined £2.5m and used the proceeds from this and some of the £13.75m to buy two strikers, as I'd identified this as the least effective part of the squad.
Last signing was a Bolivian (What? Don't you use SWYCT???) on a free from Valencia, an FC who had a good scoring record, but we didn't get him until January.
The Under-19's did very well in the Cups, losing 3-1 to Rushden in the League Cup 1st round, Semi Final of the Vans Trophy, lost 3-1 to Dagenham and Redbridge and losing 1-0 to Man City in a 4th round replay in the FA Cup, following a good 2-0 win over EPL opposition in the 3rd (Preston).
A good addition to the commentary/media files would go along the lines of "The FA at last fined Ian Ferguson for playing under-strength teams in the Cup Competitions". Ferguson replied "Cups suck ass".
Won the League, 105 points, Board are "pleased"
