Default How does Jenas get into the England squad?

I cant understand it? On current form he doesn't come anywhere close to selection in my view! I would choose Gerrard and Hargreaves if both available (i'm not a Lampard fan for England either) with the current squad id pick Gerrard and Carrick. Looking at the current squad Jenas' place there has no use! If the first team were struck by injury you could have a direct replacement for Gerrard in Lampard and you could also use Carragher, King, or even Alan Smith as another center midfielder should we be unfortunate enough to have that many injuries! So from the best available squad once Hargreaves, Carrick, Gerrard, Carragher, smith and king are injured then Jenas' place in midfield is secure!Taking him out of the squad could provide us with the chance to put someone in there a bit more creative who could possibly come on and change a game, like Wright Phillips!Or give someone a chance like Nolan or Barton (joey not warren). It wouldn't be much of a risk considering they probably wouldn't get a game anyway! As a Newcastle fan I think Jenas had one really good season with us (when he won young player of the year) and then seems to have claimed his place in every England squad since then off that performance! Even recently given an opportunity to shine in the England B game against a fairly inadequate Albania he looked out of his depth. Can anyone educate me as to the benefit of his inclusion in the squad please, I would be deeply appreciative!

He is versatile across the midfield line. Due to his pace he could do a decent job on either wing, and he is a center midfielder by trade, so like i said he's versatile
