After the Euro break and so on, I finally had time to continue my save game. Things went well, but not as good as in the opening season when we won the championship. In the end, we finished 6th, only losing three games, but without chance against the huge teams. Racing and San Lorenzo came in, offering me the manager position, but I declined both.

Copa Libertadores was played without my team. I know that I qualified by becoming champions in the opening season, but for what year? Maybe next season? I want to play that competition so much.

I bought a DC and a SC for a combined 925k, and a promising GK and a talented MLC for overall 60k. 8 or 9 guys are going to leave within next months - contracts run out and I won't give them new ones.

In the end of the season, the World Cup was held in China. Argentina were not looking promising in the friendlies, and indeed, they managed to pull off a whopping 0-4 vs. Iran, a 1-3 vs. Scotland, and only a 4-1 win vs. Uzbekistan. Eventually, Bulgaria won the world cup against France, and Argentina appointed a new manager. Me. \o/

Quick update before I go to bed.

I finally became the purest form of a LLaMa, when River Plate offered me the manager position. At that time, I was sitting 3rd with Union, and River were 6th, but of course I accepted. The first game with River was won 4-0 away, and the second one 3-0 in the Inter-Continental Cup against an aging Werder Bremen team. [i]Having not won the Inter-Continental Cup since 1986, fans of River Plate are starting to believe that manager Cosmo-Poof is some sort of magician.[i] - I have never seen such a message, and it's definitely funny.

What amazes me though is the weakness of the squad. The former manager must have been a complete idiot, since there's so much transfer funds, but only 1 GK, 5 defenders overall (senior AND reserves together), and also not many good other players. The squad is overaged, and I am currently putting bids on every decent player on my scouted shortlist that had a min-release clause ().

LLM at its finest.

After some spending (approx 20 millions) on a couple of players, River Plate marched on to win the closing season easily, only losing a single game (against my former team ), and drawing three.

On the national side, Argentina won the Confederations Cup, not conceding a single goal in those 5 matches. I also found out that CM03/04 has some nice features that make national management quite some fun, i.e. the national shortlist. Unfortunately, the manager options (let ass man play friendlies) also counts for the national team, that way I had missed my first national team match in the season.
