I can't tell you how much I enjoy this game. Talleres de Cordobá, Season 5
Won the Second Division Championship Opening Season. Fans celebrated me. Super forward got 9 MoM in the first 9 games, slacked off a bit later then, but still scored lots. He had a 8.84 average rating after the opening season.
As reward, I got the sack. I did not apply for other jobs or declare interest. Just the sack. After three games of the closing season, while sitting 8th (1W, 1L, 1D), 6:4 goals. Anyway, life goes on. Unión de Santa Fe, Season 5 Closed Season
Nice team, 4 manager sackings so far (patience is a virtue, is it not? ), 950k to spend, and a squad that looks okay but not too promising. Unión are currently sitting 9th, and are facing relegation in the average points table with only 1.21 points per game.
Implemented a pretty defensive formation, building on my very decent goalkeeper and a great attacking midfielder. Midfielder and two strikers are my only offensive players, the other ones get only one job: kill!
Things went well, and in the end we finish 2nd in the closed season. I was already preparing for the next season, signing a very promising 17 year old left winger for almost all my transfer kitty (725k), and snapping up two guys on bosmans for September. (A right winger and a defender).
All of a sudden though, the "Next Match" button appears. We're in a promotion playoff vs. First Division Giants Belgrano. We put off a 2:1 at home, conceding the stupid away goal in the last minute, and in the second leg we trail after 7 minutes 1-0 and I give up hope. After 45 minutes, I give my next-season-hope-17-year-old a chance on the left wing, and he scores once and assists once, leading us to a 1-2 away victory and to promotion. Tastes even better, seeing that Talleres qualify for three of the playoffs due to the won championship but fail to get promotion in all three of them. Revenge is best when served cold, indeed.
So, next year, we're supposed to rebuild the squad. People don't expect to stay in the first, it seems. They want us to rebuild the team too.
Rebuilding unfortunately already has started. The Real LLM Team snapped up our AMC for 1 million release fee, of which 40% go away on a clause again. To River Plate too, funnily. No wonder those asses signed him, when he partly belongs to them anyway.
With that transfer money, I decide to buy a decent 22 year old striker. He gets a min fee release clause too, but on 4.3 million. Might be a good deal in the future, since I only had to pay 625k + 50% future fee percentage.
So, wish the best for next season. :p

Hmm, it seems a team that finishes high enough in the league gets a chance to promotion via the playoffs. Even if their Av Points aren't great. Interesting.

Now that I am the _real_ Cosmo-poof, nothing could stop Unión de Santa Fe in the Primera Division. Nothing? Well, there still were the likes of River Plate, Boca, Racing, and so on. :o
Anyway, besides of my AMC who left for good and loads of cash to River Plate we could keep the squad together. A right midfielder and a DRC came on bosmans - the midfielder made only 3 games as backup and sucked, and the defender was with 6.46 average in 28 games, but that's the way it goes.
Opening season went well. Philosophy of "offense wins games, defense wins titles" I heard in the NBA broadcast on tv worked well too - actually it was the same formation that won promotion the last season with some minor exceptions, but who cares? Finished 5th in the opening season.
Then Indepediente came in, begging me to loan them my 3rd choice 20 year old forward. He was worth 525k, valued at 2 mil and kindly they offered me 500k as loan fee for half the season, and a fixed price of 1,5 mil if they want to purchase him later. Of course I agreed. :p
The 500k instant cash flow were of course invested into a couple of guys - a 30 year old DC who made 10 appearances for me, for 220k, a 30 year old striker for 75k (scored 8 in 14), and last but not least, I found my Talleres super forward unhappy at his club, and got him for the remaining 375k + 50% fee. Obviously the new manager deemed him not good enough. In my opinion, 109(8) games, 63 goals, 31 assists, and and 33 MoM and a scouted 5-star rating were reason enough to get him over.
Unfortunately, he still needs to settle down. After a bad start he finally decided to deliver the goods. 6 goals, 5 assists, and 1 MoM in 15 apps wasn't too bad in the end.
Closing season brought us the 4th place, after leading 60% of the series. It wasn't until River and Co. played their rescheduled and postponed matches that I dropped back.
Next season will be interesting. Nobody was sold yet, but three guys are coming on bosmans on September 1st. I am interested into how much funds we will get to strengthen the squad. After all, we made a nice 2 mil profit this year. If things go well, we might get one or two players back. The guy who was sold to Dinamo Kiev is transfer listed but is first-optioned to Interpediente. :p

Bah, nobody came back. Seems there are some "minor" differences between what those players want to earn (6k/week) and what I want to pay (23k/week overall).
Well, that said, it was time to stick to the squad who was there. A DRC was told to feck off after his contract ran out, and a couple of new guys came in. Spending wasn't too big though, the players were either bosmans/rejects or transfer listed third choice players. At least I have some additional options for the wings now, after adding a DRL, a DLC, an ML and an MC.
Only the ML and the DRL played regularly though, but the MC is only 19 and looks promising.
So, the opening season could begin, and I was curious whether we could maintain the good run we had had in the last year, easily avoiding the drop. With the average-point system you really become relaxed after a good season (since it will be safer for you) but also more concerned if you put in a bad season, since you might suffer the years afterwards due to it.
The team replied quickly: 4 wins in the first 4 games, including a 2-0 away victory vs. River Plate. Form was maintained for most parts of the opening season, and we managed to get away with 12 wins, 6 draws and only 1 defeat, away vs. Santa Fe Rivals Cólon .
Anyway, in the end, we finished 1st, 4 points ahead, and with a decent goals/conceded ratio of 4:1 (scored 29, conceded 7). Argentine Champions! \o/
Closing season will show us as league holders and will also feature us in Copa Libertadores. Hopefully the squad is large enough for that, especially now that the striker (who I had out for the 500k loan) was sold for 2 mil. I really need a great striker for up front who is more resistant to criticism and doesn't whine about not being in the team when he doesn't play a game due to not being fit. :o
