End of Season 10/11

Not a good season.

The Super Cup and domestic Cup (Copa del Rey?) were secured. The league title was handed back to Real Madrid, and Valencia were obliterated (6-1) by Rangers at Ibrox to overturn a 3-0 advantage.

Valencia are still struggling financially which may reduce the scope for improving the squad this season. The youth players are the main hope.

Mid-Season 11/12

The financial position appears to have stabilised after off-loading another £36M worth of talent.

The survivors are progressing satisfactorily, maintaining the club's interest in all major cup competitions, and a decent challenge for the league title.

The (purchasing) youth policy has yielded a starting GK (21yo), a left back (18yo) and a utility midfielder (21yo) and now in his second season), with a number of others hot on their heels, the future is looking mind-numbingly secure .

Not entirely sure about the point of the previous post .

I appreciate that recently this thread has very little to do with LLM.

I think Spain is an anomaly in the game. Castellon, altough in the lowest playable division were financially well off, which I have been informed is typical of Spanish Division 2B teams in the game.

Valencia have been an interesting challenge, in that every off-loaded player has been a calculated gamble against the impact, mostly degradation, on the first team. It felt better to reveal my financial mis-management than to unwittingly boast about the achievements on the pitch, which due to Valencia's stature, have felt quite hollow.

This update has bought home to me is that there is more reward, in playability and interest terms, from sticking with Lower League teams, than moving to bigger reputation teams.

What team are you managing?

I thoroughly recommend going into receivership, if like me, you cannot resist the bargain youngster or a star player falling out of a rivals first team .

Good luck with the game.

I, for one, would be interested in your progress, as you seem to have found a genuine challenge.
