The second division championship has just been won with a few games to spare and its Division One football for sure next season.
We also managed to get to the semi final of the Scottish Cup, were improbably we were drawn with fellow Division 2 side QoS.
Unfortunately we were a skeleton team by this stage with most of the defence missing through suspension or injury and the midfield not faring too much better.
We went down 2 goals very quickly in front of 1900 people at Hampden, which must be the lowest ever attendance for a semi final
But we rallied somewhat and halfway through the second period the Icelandic goals machine pulled one back.
Still, it didn't seem enough until the last minute one of the young midfielders (the consistent ratings one, rather than the goalscoring one) scored a messy goal to take the game to a replay.
The price was the young midfielder out for 2 months with injury and the Auchinleck right winger out through suspension.
The second replay started abysmally (this time in front of 1700) as we lost our best remaining defender to a red card in the first minute.
QoS scored immediately after and with a team barely recognisable I thought we were done for.
However, on the back foot and with only 5 chances in the match we scored 4, with one and own goal when we needed it the most.
QoS came back at our strestched and exhausted side but with a final score of 4-3 we have reached the Scottish Cup Final, where we will pay Rangers.
Question: Rangers look quinds in to finish 2nd, unless Ayr United :o pip them in the final weeks. Scotland has 2 places for the Champions League, so regardless of the result in the Scottish Cup Final, will I get into the UEFA Cup?
By the time the cup final came around the suspensions and injuries meant that the defence was basically the reserves and the strikers were both just coming back from injury and not 100%.
The game itself was a siege, although after a dozen shots and a missed penalty Rangers were only 1-0 up.
We got the equaliser from a corner towards the end of the second half when the Icelandic striker went off with a torn harmstring which ended up with midfielders required to play up front and in defence in a totally re-jigged team.
We took the tie to extra time, then got squashed as we went down 4-1.
A paltry 50k was awarded, and the press were keen to tell us how much we had been outplayed.
