Finally we've got some action :cool:
The long pre-season is over, an it's time for the First Division football. Traditional season preview:
August, 2008, beginning:
Board expectations:
Survive
Board promises:
Expand the stadium
Facilities were improved in the pre-season (no youngsters, for sure

)
Fans expectations:
Same as board
My expectations:
Gain some experience of high-fly football. Stay in division
Balance: +2 900K
Transfers: + 845K
Wage budget: 12K/week (ughm... nice budget for a D1 team... though i'm still below the limit for 5.5K

)
Players on 'Ctr' due to their wild basic wage fantasy - 3
Players in the starting 11 from original squad - 3
Rating of lines assuming D1 requirements (best - 10):
Attack: 7 (no equal substitutes)
Midfield: 5 (poor creativity, though left wing looks good)
Defense: 5 (too young, lack of experience, though DC and DR perform consistantly, which is not bad for us)
Goalkeeping: 5 (main goalie ages 31 now, some crapy substitutes)
No new signings during pre-season, some players (including 38 y/o SC and 37 y/o GK who announced their retirement) didn't want new contracts and left the club. No real losses though. Having succesfully (almost) resigned my young SC with a bad min fee of $10 mln (no way otherwise). Get rid of some staff, some other went away to big clubs. No real disappointment though.
Our chances for promotion were rated at
300-1, which is the worst in my Telford career.
Games were scheduled, first is against Ipswich at home. Totally unexpected, crazy win whitnessed by 6500 spectators. 6:0 by the 40th minute and we've got our first three points :cool: Still, most of their players were unprepared for the season. Next game is soon against them in the League Cup. Good chance to see if we're really good, or it was just a great luck.
More coming out soon...
