Default Sending players on loan to belgium to get work permit

I've 3 Brazilian youngsters and I've been sending them to Antwerp (I'm playing Man U).

One of them has been there for 3 seasons but still can't get a WP. Does he have to have a 3 year loan contract because he's been coming back at the end of every Belgian season? Is this not counting towards his citizenship?

Thanks for any help (FM07 btw)

If you look in the players profile, it will tell you how many days he has left before he is eligible for that nationality.

Usually, you have to send them on loan for a couple of months more than three years due to the time between seasons when the loan is not in place. Towards the end of the season, they come back to your club and early in the following season you send them back. Between that time they are in England and are not accruing days towards the nationality.

Yeah, I've just checked also and there is no mention of when my players are eligable for Belgium. Must be an 08 feature

It should still count toward his citizenship, perhaps he hasn't been there the full 3 years yet, or has chosen not to take up citizenship for some reason.

Yeah sorry about that.

It is an FM08 feature but I do believe that the same rule applies (you just can't see it).

Same thing happened to me, I just sent the player back to belgium for a fourth season and offered him a new contract every week. I think it took around a month for him to get a WP.

Also, if your player features in enough internationals during his loan spell you should be able to offer a new contract and get the permit you need. 75% I think. Make sure you set his stauts as minimum "squad rotation".
