im still playing a save on fm07 where im managing the mighty aldershot. im in aug 2021 and have managed to make aldershot the dominant force in european football. however my ground capacity is only just over 32000 and everyone time the board try to expand it i get a message saying the planning application has been blocked by the council. does anyone know wether the council will ever approve the application or will the board just build me a new stadium.

Or not. Its not the board who says he can't get a new stadium, its the council, and the board is your employer, not the council, so they couldn't do anything.. right?

Quite correct. Giving an ultimatum would be stupid, the club doesn't control the council.
Happens a lot IRL although it is frustrating I know.

Nope the Council won't approve it. You have probably reached the expansion capacity calulated in the game. Having the Council refuse permission is the way the programmers wrote the game to explain why you can't ex[pand any further. Otherwise you would have grounds of 200,000 or more.
If your attendances are in demand, and you have enough money saved, your Board MAY elect to build a new stadium.
ok heres one for you, if you change the max capacity in the editor and you start a new game and the club decide to build a new stadium will the original max capacity be taken into account
playing as chelmsford in league one with a 3000 capacity, the council blocked an expansion in 2014, then in 2015 the board announced that we would be expanding by 1254 seats.
As I've said in numerous threads similar to this, the council regularly "blocks" the expansion of my ground, but the next news message then tells me that the ground is being expanded anyway (FM07)
I have eard roumours that if you kep asking, eventually the council may accept.
I suppose this is realistic, as if the club keeps appealing the decision, eventually the council will not be able to afford to keep defending it, and have to let it through.
This is exactly how Heathrow Terminal 5 got planning permission.
