glamdring - if your capacity was 3,900 making you approx £30,000 per home game when you could be selling out a £15,000 stadium making £200,000, would you still prefer your youth facilities improved even though your losing out on 3.5 million a year with a tiny club like Elgin? If yes, you would be an idiot chairman.

anyway, they arent improving my youth facilites, its just the training ground that is now 'good facilities' instead of average.

£3.5 million a year is all very well, but you have to spend the money in order to start getting that.

And if I could develop a better youth system so that I wouldn't need to be spending so much on transfers and could earn money from selling players then yes I would rather have my youth facilities upgraded.

True the same can't really be said for the training facilities though.

I enjoy the challenge though if I have to make do with a small stadium. I won the Champions League with Grindavik (FM 06) in a ~4,000 capacity stadium and that was an extension on it's original capacity. I didn't let the money worry me...until the players started demanding Champions Leaguesque type wages and refused to sign new contracts

I'm not sure how the game looks into this but in the end everything needs to be upgraded when you rise to the top.
So my guess is they are saving to have more cash to expand the stadium with a bigger increase or maybe even to build a new one.
Anyway stadium upgrades are irl board decisions and not the decision of the manager, all we can do is ask and hope, or in last case use a ultimatum to gain our goal.

They are not saving money, I can assure you. I'm one of the most rich teams in the world, winning 30M€ every year (half goes to investors) and have a lower league stadium. Local council seems to hate football XDD

In my current game managing Sutton Coldfield (switched with Vauxhall in editor) and took them from BSN to EPL.

First season in the EPL (2012/13) and they eventually agreed to improve the stadium - intead of 4500 (200 seats) they approved it for 4500 (all seats).

Funny thing was as it took six months to complete so I had to groundshare with Birmingham in their 27,000 all seater stadium. Made more money from gate receipts than ever before or since.

It seems (at least in the EPL) that the board announce whatever plans they have around mid-June. Since it was coming up to June in my game and I'd read that constant requests might make it more likely to have a new ground approved instead of the council blocking it I requested "Expand Stadium" about ten times and a couple of days later they agreed.

I've tried reloading to see if this is always the case but have found that sometimes they say yes and sometimes no.

£17 million and a two year wait is what it's costing for my new 21,000 all seater with undersoil heating. The value of your old ground does come off that price but mine was only valued at 140K.

To be fair the stadium should have been automatically updated as soon as u entered spl considering the rules which state every team must at least have a 6,000 seater stadium. Maybe this feature isnt included in game but it should be. This one of the reasons Gretna are playing at fir park this season.

Oh yeah, minimum stadium capoacity (for all leagues) ARE not in game and be posted in bug forum.
for stadium expansion - it is posible to have "triple" in one season - stadium expansion and yout/training facility upgrade - it is only matter of moneys.
Progresing stadium expansion can be found in info screen of your team - just look at. And building undersoil heating is stadium expansion (but not capacity) - and yesvery limited oprtions in stadium expansion are very negative - yu have only option to expand stadium or issue ultimate if reques is denied. No chance of talking with board which you perform - something like suggesting sister (feeder?) club and choising screen will be very nice (instaed clubs is simply posibilites of expansion with cost of expansion). This possibiliti is very needed.
And stadium expansion is bugged - vhen I request stadium expansion (at end of season) - board toll me - club dont need stadium expansion, but when starting new season, board told me they expading my stadium by cca 5k seats.

Over an entire season yes but only one thing at a time.

IMHO i wouldn't say it's a bug.
I think as manager you are an employer and the board doesn't have to rapport their plans to us.
They are entitled to do whatever they wish and all we have to do is make sure the goals are reached they give us.
So probably they reconsidered their decision and decided to upgrade after all.
Point is stadiums do get upgraded and when the expansion capacity is reached sometimes new ones are build.
After all i still think the game is called football "manager" and not football "Chairman" although i do would love to see some day a option to become a Chairman yourself, however i do feel it would be boring after a while if not frustrating at times when your hired manager doesn't do what you want.

Board hired me and give me task to fulfill - I have no problem with this. And board have right to decline my wishes/requests - again, no problem, but when board told me wrong informations about future which )can)have impact on my work - then I have problem. If board told me after starting new seson(or at end of old) - we changend mind - then again, no problem.

And yes, it is possible to have triple at same time (at start of new season) because I have requestet triple at end of season after winning nice prize money for cups.
