Default The retirement age

Don't you think the retirement age for the players in FM08 is a bit high.Ryan Giggs was 39 before he retired and Gary Neville is 38 and still playing for Reading and his stats are still looking good, his pace is on 14 how unrealstic is that.
Rio Ferdinand is 35 and his pace and acceleration is on 17 and I still have him as my centre back.
I think this needs to be sorted out,its just unrealistic that palyers at that age are still good and fast..

There was (just recently) a whole thread on how players lose physical abilities too quickly / too early.

You really can't please all of the people!

I think you need to get with the times. If you'd said this 10 years ago, I would have agree with you. But players are in great shape these days. Especially if they've been at a top club like Man Yoo. I don't see anything wrong with it personally.

If they're playing on a consistent basis and have high natural fitness ratings, then it does make sense. Giggs is 34 IRL and is still quite nippy.

So you don't rate Maldini as a big name?

I'm sure at some point Giggs will have to quit, but I'm sure he could still do use of himself two years from now =/

Roy Keane retired through injury. His knee was in bad shape, after the injuries he sustained throughout his career.

Shearer was a striker, and they usually retire before players in other poitions.

Here's a few players that were playing long ago and still today - Ryan Giggs, Beckham, Scholes, Barthez (?)
