It's true that players seem to play longer careers these days and this is reflected in the game.

The only one I would pick up on however is Ryan Giggs. As far as I'm aware, he's signed a two year contract with United with the intention of retiring from playing at the end of this contract.

im sure i remeber giggs saying that last time he signed, and ferguson said he would retire 7 years ago!!

I think its down the prolonged careers of many of the top players nowadays, because we havnt got to the 'golden generations' retirement yet we dont know but i would bet they all keep going to mid thirtys at the top level, then retire or drop down the leagues.

Of course every player is different also, and think of all the hundreds of players in the game that had already retired and the original poster just named a couple.

It isn't like EVERY player retires this old either. Neville in my game retired at 36 and his last two seasons he played as a Charlton reserve. I think that how many injuries the player gets hit with late in his career effects it a ton.

I'm sure implementing players intentions in game must be difficult though. Picking up on jokerswild, who mentioned Gary Neville spending the last two years as a Charlton reserve.

In reality this would not happen as I'm sure he would possibly retire before making such a move - no disrespect to Charlton Athletic intended.

I think it would be more likely he would enter into a coaching role at Manchester United and retire from plaing if he was'nt going to be a regular player, unless another big club offered him a swansong.

Either way, I'm sure it's something that will be worked on, as the game gets more detailed every release.
