Securom is rather annoying when it doesnt even work properly
For instance when I put my disc into my lite-on drive, it starts making noises louder than it has ever made before..... When i try to start FM, it tells me rather ****ing rudely to insert the original CD, and not the backup.
Its a drive that works perfectly with absolutely everything else I have used with it.
Its seems to work okay with the plextor, but I actually like to burn DVD's with that, and I would rather keep that drive free for another function.
My samsung also seems to make incredible noises only ever heard when securom is checking the disc. At least after a while it seems It seems to stress the drives more than burning/ripping media... and just feels like bloatware when you start the game.
Its just annoying that I cant use my spare drive which I seem to remember buying specifically so I can play FM without having to constantly swap disks.
I rather like some of the anti-piracy measures you have in place. Well mostly, having cracks cause long term bugs seems fairly good, as long as it doesnt affect people who buy the game. Which it did to people who wanted to continue their demo save.
Maybe its a bit too optimistic, but I just think it would be nice if you could implement methods which caused less problems for people who buy the game, and more problems for people who dont.

You can take the CD out of the drive once the game is started, so all you need to do is stop burning DVDs for a precious few seconds to boot the game up.

Well Mr. Fanboy, Some of us like to leave our disk in the drive. Our time is precious as, unlike you, we have lives and our whole day isnt spent playing FM or being on this website.

To be fair you are the one who has part-timer as your description which suggests you have spent much more time on the forums than he has.

I had to keep the disc in for the first release. But since upgrading to 8.0.1 it doesn't ask me anymore and the disc is sitting all shiny in it's lovely case.

Yes, VERY optimistic. Every Anti-piracy measure in history has only inconvienced legitimate customers, whilst barely slowing down the criminals. Still never mind, you started this thread seven hours ago and at least no-ones accused you of using a crack yet!

Actually updating sort of works. I had the patch on before anyway, reinstalled vista.... etc.
Anyway, I get a message saying insert CD in the lite-on, and if I press retry it doesnt do anything, but when i press continue it gets right through it. i dunno if that is what is mean to happen, but at least I can keep it stuck in my unused drive now.

Just a thought but have you tried starting the game using the Run as Administrator option?
