Just curious, I've noted it happened in FM07 and I've even seen other managers have children through the youth ranks, but I've not seen it yet in FM08.

Has anyone seen other staff having kids come through or had their own son in their youth team in FM08? Or has the feature been disabled?

I'd like a feature where I can chat up Steven Gerrard and Thierry Henry, and eventually the three of us would have a love child (Stevie would be the mother), creating some sort of unstoppable complete footballer.

not seen this in 08, hopefully they left it in from previouse game but it does take like 3-6 seasons to get him n theres only a slim chance of it

It would be interesting to see if this happens. I've seen a couple of threads in the past mentioning it happening in FM08, although it could just be pure coincidence.

Proof of it happening is if a player appears, sharing my own surname. My surname does not exist on the FM database, therefore is most unlikely to be duplicated by regens.

Aside from this, I always remember signing a regen many years ago on CM97/98 who was called "Bob Giggs" and he was also a left sided winger. :cool:

I've never heard of this before. Of course you are going to get some players come through who share the same surname with someone that is already at the club, thats just life.

Quick question can you add your own surname to the database, I remember that you could back in CM00/01 but havent seen an option to on this editor.

Yes, this is possible on 08. I've only had it happen twice on my game, but coming through the Inter ranks:

Mancini had a son come through (forgot his name) as a regen with Roberto Mancini on his favoured personnel. Also, a little more surprising, about 10 years in, a new Figo appeared!! His name was Jacob or something, an AMRL regen with Luis Figo on his favoured personnel! I was stoked about this one.

Only if you create a player or staff with the same surname I believe.

Ok heathxxx i see what your saying, so if a player has the name in the players list then it would in theory become a regen name to use

The best I had in FM07 was a Mexican legend who I can't remember by name took over an Irish club and his son arrived the following season!

He was Irish-Mexican and the finest sixteen year old striker in the division by a mile.
