The three letter nation abbreviation - ie. "ENG", "GER", "IRL"

Is there any way to edit the relevant xml so that it DOESN'T display in a skin?

What I need is just so the national flag of the relevant team/player is shown.

If so - what would I need to remove from which files?

Open the fm colours.xml file for your skin (located in the settings folder).

Scroll Down to this line (In about the middle of the file):

<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre"> &lt;colour name="nation" red="255" green="255" blue="255"/&gt;&lt;!-- colour for 3-letter nation name --&gt; </pre>

Adjust the RGB values so that they are the same as your background colour.

If that doesn't work completely try adding alpha="255" after blue="255" (The Alpha command may make the text a bit more transparent or faded).

Not sure if there is any way to actualy remove it properly.

Try comparing the nation_button in header.xml and the ones elsewhere in the game as there is probably a property that you can set that won't show the 3 letter nation name or full nation name, although I can't remember off hand what that might be or if it's driven by the code.
