Hey just wondering what do most people believe is the most important area to focus youth training on?
For example is it best to focus on developing a young player's technical attributes, (i.e have a high intensity on defending for defensive players, attacking and technical for midfielders, shooting for strikers), as these are the attributes that are genrally the most important for their specific positions?
Or do you prefer to focus on improving the physical side of the youngsters, as these are generally the attributes that are the weakest in young players?
Or is it more important to train them in their mental attributes, or do you believe that this is not as vital considering that the mental attributes are likely to improve more with matches and experince anyway?
I will be interested to hear what you conisder to be the most important aspect in training your youth players, as i am yet to decide which area i think is the best to concentrate on.
I look at what his stas are like. For instance, there's one player (CM) in my U18s who has got 20 flair, passing and creativity, yet his mental and physical stats are nearly non-existant.
So, I've got him doing strength and aerobic training high, tactics high, attacking medium and then left out the stats that he isn't going to need ni the role I think he'll be best - ACM; such as defending and goalkeeping.
Basically I change it so that each player is working the stats they'll need that are the worst, forgetting about the stats they won't need and doing a little bit on the one's they'll need and are already quite good at.
