I'm playing an offensive 3-4-3 (3-1-3-1-2 actually) at home and a 3-5-2 (3-1-4-1-1), always using a DM.
But I'm facing a big problem: the opposition's ML and MR go up, one of the 3 DC goes after him leaving just 2 in the box, if the cross goes in and they have 3-4 players in my box it surely is a goal.
All my 3 DC have good heading, still not enough. I've tried retreating my ML, MR a bit, still doesn't work.
Maybe some of you are also using 3 DC, please give me some advice

What's your midfield - is it narrow or wide i.e. do you have the 3 midfielders in the centre of the pitch or 1 in the centre and two on the flanks...

one in the centre and 2 on the flanks, or 2 in centre and 2 on flanks

Alright then. First of all - heading is only one of the attributes you need to consider for your DCs. You also need to look at marking and strength. To borrow a quote from one of my previous posts, its all well and good having a player with 20 heading and 20 marking, but if he falls over like a wet sack of spuds whenever an opponent comes near him because his strength is 1 this is pretty much useless.
Look at these stats as well as if your crossing problem persists you may at least be able to provide additional cover for yourself should the crosses still arrive in your penalty box.
One thing that you should probably try is instead of sending your DCs out to get their wingers, use your two men on the flank and set their opposition instructions to firstly close down the opposition wingers so that they can get less crosses in, and also try putting them on their weaker foot so that even if they do get a cross in it will either need something really special or it will bend worse than a snapped banana.
Hope this helps you out... but if all else fails try using a different formation

maybe try a 2 DC 2 WB formation? that way the wing backs would get the oppositions ML and MR and would stop your DCs getting out of position i havent tryed it but i think it might help

| Really, I am not sending them out to get the oppositions wingers, they just do it. Why can't they just sit in the box and wait for the cross? And please explain how I do the second part u said, the one with setting my ML, MR instructions to firstly close down the opposition wingers so that they can get less crosses in, and also trying to put them on their weaker foot. I'm kind of new in the game, please tell me how I do this...thanks!

Sure. When you are about to start a game and you are at the team-talk menu, you should have a tab which says opposition instructions on the left. Click on this and you can assign certain things to be done to certain players, such as show onto weaker foot etc.
As for your defenders running out, if you have no cover on the flanks then one of your defenders would rush out anyway to try to stop the crosses coming in otherwise the player could run straight into the penalty area...

Any other suggestions on how to successfully use a tactic with 3 central defenders?

The SPINE!!!
Play narrow and low closing down for DC's. Use proportional increase in individual mentality up the field.
Use with hard working wingers. these guys position themelves in the box when not in posession and can win crucial headers.
Adjust mentality and defensive line to suit occasion.
Won everything with Leeds 2 seasons running 2015-2017!!!
