In my Real Madrid game I'm up to march or april in 2007 (season 1), I have a special training schedule per position, simillar to the ones from Cleon's Sheffield United Project, but the bad part is that the players' attributes practically haven't improved from the start of the game, only the GK
I have checked my most prospective players, Bojan (injury problem, so can't be treated seriously), Guardado, Adan, the young GK and a couple more, and only Adan had more than 3 or for skills improved by at least 2...
Is this a training schedule problem or do I just need to be more patient?
Although I'm not accustomed to the higher leagues I hope I may be able to help you. Basically what you should be looking at is exactly what you WANT improved. From your post it appears to me as if you are basically saying that in general players stats are going up. This is all relative to the age of your squad.
When the game is undergoing a transition between times and you get the hints pop up (if you have this option enabled), one of the hints it offers are players are unlikely to gain player attributes due to natural progression after the age of 24. If your players are over the age of 24 then you are relying entirely on the training you provide in order for them to develop more.
For example, with my main game which is Lincoln City, I have a large number of youngsters in my squad. Their stats have increased substantially since I first started or signed them, and this is not in one specific area. My older players (mainly my defenders) have likewise seen very little improvement in there stats except in defending.
In essence I think the main problem may be the age of your squad. You said your young GK was increasing - that's probably what I mean, he is young and therefore improving quicker seemingly than everyone else.
If all of your players are around the age of 20-24 then the problem is most likely your training routine. One thing that I have found helps is DEFINITELY not adjusting the meters so that they overall reach "very heavy" as the workload. This will lead to a large number of injuries and injuries tend to stall the player attributes and commonly cause them to decline.
So overall my advice is this: Check the age of your squad. If they are over 24 then this is most probably the problem and you need to look at your training routines. Also check which coaches are signed to which routines as they may be unsuitable coaches for the partciular things you are trying to get them to do.
My squad has a fairly old average age, 27 iirc, but I don't care much for the oldies, I am concentrating on youngsters training, I have fairly good coaches, more then 3 stars for each category, don't remember precisely, the trainig is just a few notches heavier than the general.
I will give it some time, I think I was just being impatient... I will post in later seasons.
I restarted FM2007 10 times and used many trainig schudles and some of them i got them from this forum (and many people say they're good). at the end of each season i pick up FM genie scout and watch CA of all players and watch the CA they had one year ago and the result is always the same: most players have the same CA as they did one year ago and those who improved never improve more then 10 points in they're CA. i'm starting to think its a bug from the game...

And if you noticed in my thread, I scrapped them and went back to some older ones I created as they were very poor indeed. So if yours are simliar im guessing thats the problem you have too

You don't judge the players at the beginning or end of a season as thy are tired or not been training. The correct time tpo judge is around October time every year, and if you have good schedules you should notice an increase. Its not a bug at all, just people who don't understand how training works.

at that time you'll be seing the "top form" of players, what i'm talking about is youngsters evolution, year after year youngster are still the same and not just mine . and if there isn't a training bug why is it that year after year world class players lower their stats???? is IA also dumb and cant train its own players?????
I certainly see improvements with training, but more so if you look at the long-term picture. I've adapted my training approach recently and my players are much physically better than before.
Try intensive strength/aerobic training and none of all else for pre-season, up until either the last friendly match or the first week of the league season. You'll see depreciation in all but physical attributes, but then switch to a more technically orientated regime and by October/December your player attributes should have improved steadily.
General advice would be to keep workload at medium, and make sure your coaches are manually assigned to their strengths. Be patient and you'll see very satisfying results.
