It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

hope this helps:thup:
Aye, do this myself from time to time, you can create lots of space to exploit.

I'll play some matches with my wingers in M R/L. In fact, when asking a team report from my ass man, he will play a winger with no M R rating in the M R position, eventhough it doesnt have arrows, so I guess it really doesnt matter. Great

Default team mentality is 11, and I had everybody on the default team mentality

I'll also try a narrower width. I guess playing wide is for when you want to play direct balls for your wingers to run onto, whereas I want the opposite (play to feet and then have them dribble past there man). Sounds logical to use a narrower width then.

Do you find some of your players occupythe sam space? it could be wise altering the midfields mentality slightly to allow the wingers space to get into.

Tried playing with the wingers in M R/L and its slightly better. Joe Cole still made only one run past an opponent, but Robben had four.

Regardless though, Im not keen on playing 4-1-4-1. Im Dutch, so I want to play 4-3-3 My wingers should be advanced, because they should only be dribbling past their full-back, not the oppositions winger as well. It can be done in real life, so why not in the game?

4-1-4-1 just leaves my striker far too isolated. When playing with advanced wingers, one winger can quickly get into the box when the other is going to cross it in. Its also far better when launching a counter-attack. With 4-1-4-1, you/ve got noone upfront. Just one striker who is surrounded by 4-5 players..

The saddest thing is that is actually is very easy to tell the team to play it to the winger; have him as your playmaker. Hey presto, now they'll play it to the flank.. Unfortunately, you can only have one playmaker, and a playmaker also forego's defensive duties, so this is pointless..

Im getting mentally tired of tactics. I think I need a break from FM, its doing my head in..

Its just so stupid to see that when the winger is a playmaker, then they will (and can) pass to him, and otherwise not. Aarg..

If your wingers are in position to recieve the ball, but the rest of the team won´t pass to them, then perhaps you could try reducing CF. Hopefully that´ll get your players to stick to your gameplan, instead of making up the own.
