If I were to play only one striker up front and gave him a free role would that be pointless or would it work? Would he get into good positions and score more goals or be up the other end of the pitch with nobody else up to score goals?

i play a 4-3-3, and give free roles to the wide players...(fr, fl), it makes the wingers move around a lot, i dont have WORLD class stikers, but they are pretty good, do u suggest not doing it unless they are really good?

if they have high OTB and desicions they should be alright at it, and if a player is liste as a FC instead of a ST he should be quite good at it, personally i wouldnt recommend it though

I prefer my players to stay in their positions unless they really know what they're doing. Usually, I find giving them free role will make them wander around way too much for my taste, leaving a big gap that can be exploited by the opposition.

A free role should really only be given to a FC imo.
