I'm in the Premiership with Cardiff on the 2nd season. I am struggling big time, just been hammered by West Ham 6-1!
I don't think my team is that bad, but it doesn't seem to matter how far up I tell my defensive line to push, the opposition bang them in at will!
My 2 centre backs (it doesn't matter what 2 I select) seem incapable of staying with their man, any crosses or through balls don't seem to get cut out. I have recently switched to a negative 4-5-1 system, but there's occasions where I fall behind and chase the game, so switch back to 4-4-2 and then the floodgates open.
I have posted up screenies of my current system and team instructions for all you experts to look at. Please tell me where i'm going wrong! I don't usually like to cheat and ask for help, but things are going that bad, it isn't nice getting hammered every match!
You are closing down to much. This is causing your player to be drawn out of position and this is causing the gaps into your formation.
If you want to play the counter-attack you need to draw the opposition forward this is done by playing more defensive and also closing down nearer to your goal line.
I would also play with 2 strikers as 1 will easily get isolated.
Thanks Leroy, the idea of me closing down the opposition was to try and stop them playing, as most teams in the Premiership have better players than me. I will try closing down less and see if it makes a difference.
