It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Striker Mentality

Hi there

Just want to gather other peoples views on what they do for striker mentality and why.
I'm playing with Notts County in League Two and i am currently top and we are playing some great stuff. However, i have one slight fear..my strikers are not consistent enough. My 1st choice partnership is Spencer Weir Daley and Billy McKay, both who are very capable at that level but i find they don't score on a consistent basis. For example, they would score say a hat trick in one game and then go on a 4-5 game drought before scoring another hat-trick. It's weird and for some reason i have a feeling its down to striker mentality. I play one forward on 17 and another on 19. Is that where i am going wrong? Your views would be highly appreciated!

Cheers.

What I do is:

Targetman - Have mentality at about 18 and with forward runs at mixed.

Striker - Have mentality at about 15 or 16, but have the forward runs at often.

It seems to work well enough for me, although i'm no FM genius.

Jamesy.

The idea is that my target-man (Yakubu) wins the ball for a flick-on, or holds the ball up while Andy Johnson runs on to it.

Let me know how you get on.

Both strikers on Attk mentality can make them isolated, why not try putting one forward on a normal mentality so he drops a bit deeper?

A big target man usually has a lower mentality than his partner, so he can flick the ball on. If its a fast target man who you have more advanced, the deeper player can be set up to keep on the ground more.

I always do the following:

My striker is on normal (11) menatality. My target man is on the highest notch of normal (never attacking), and set to hold up ball. This way, though he is more advanced, comes deep to hold the ball and waits to realease it to midfielders making deep forward runs.
