no real order here, loads spring to mind but off top of head, toure, ferdinand, barzagli, zapata, criscito, breno, pique, ramos

Disregarding age:

1. Nesta (the best but only for a season or two)
2. Terry
3. Barzagli
4. Toure
5. Ferdinand/Vidic

The funny thing is that I'd never pick 2 of the first 3 together. I'd DEFINITELY look to have Toure in the team because of his pace. And pair him with one of the first 3. But in terms of out-and-out defending, the first 3 shade it over Toure (as hard as it is for me to say!).
