I'm about to start a new game as West Ham and i'm determined not to make any major signings in the 1st season.

There are two main reasons for this.

1. West Ham have a big squad and its very difficult to sell players.

2. West Ham end up in debt if you go out and spend the £20-£30M available for transfers at the beginning of the game.

Therefore i would appreciate a list of as many Premiership quality players as possible who are available on loan, the likes of Gourcuff, Bojan, Ben Arfa etc and/or very cheap but decent youngsters, the likes of Stancu, Dzudszak, Torje etc?.

Very much in need of a back up DL.

Wome is great, much better than McCartney. Makelele/Flamini/Hoyte are always good options (but often won't come to you due to the London rivalry). I've heard of people getting soldado on loan but never seen it myself.

Though I don't know what you mean by hard to sell the players, the only west ham player I've never been able to shift with profit is Upson. Even if you cant shift any, I would definately advise getting a better goalie, a solid CB, and a good winger. You can pretty much always chuck Bellamy off to portsmouth for 10 mil over 12 months, and that covers 3 mil for Lobont, 2 for Samba, and 5 for Belluschi (for example). I really don't think you're going to go for a europe place without major defence/midfield reinforcements, but if you want to try it with four players of mediocre quality it's your game.

Firstly, get Ignashevich in as CB for free. That's a good start for you. Fabien Barthez maybe if you need a GK? Not sure how good he is though.

Some loan signings you can get are:
Julio Baptista - R. Madrid
Javier Saviola - R. Madrid (probably not before Jan though)
Juan Roman Riquelme - Vilarreal (not sure about him but I *think* he's a backup)
Adriano - Inter (definitely get him if you can)
Diego Capel - Sevilla
Yoann Gourcuff - AC Milan

Oh and get Vincent Enyeama for GK. Not a major signing as he'll only cost 500K or so and is very good. You'll have 2 solid GK's in him & Green then.
