When I sign players I never offer a minimum release clause unless it's absolutely necessary, like when they've refused about 3 contract offers. I also never tick the AssMan contract renewal boxes, for obvious reasons.
During the close season it really riles me when the news item "Welshie Welshbloke has signed a new contract with Porthmadog" and, sure enough, there's a feckin' stupidly low minimum release fee in his contract. You try to re-negotiate and he's not interested, then some poofy feckin' Poofland Club come in and swipe him away for a pittance.
Don't give me the "oh but it happens in real life" pish, 'cos I'm not feckin' interested.
I sign the players, I offer the contracts, the game conspires to lose us our best players and potentially the League and CL.
...and another thing. I NEVER ask our players to feck about nearing the end of the game, they play 'til the final whistle as far as I'm concerned, but they insist in ****ing about with Freekicks and throw-ins, wasting time.

I take it you holiday through the close-season? Big mistake, if so. The ass man will always offer new contracts to your players, and will always include an extremely low min. fee release clause. That's one of the reasons i hate holidaying, as the clan members can testify

Well, it has to do something to stop you, doesn't it? The AI tactical responses are rather predictable, so it's programmed to "cheat" on you using other means.

I've worked up some stats for my current game, and it's not so much the Super Keepers that get me riled now, but the reverse: the Snowman Syndrome. Wherein your keeper flatly refuses to move for any shots that might come his way, thus generally conceding a goal to every shot on target.
