Have you ever had one of these seasons? The league starts rather badly, but form picks up after Xmas. Your team starts leapfrogging one team after another, until you get really, really near to the promotion spots. 4 games to go, 2 at home, 2 away. The 2 home games are against promotion rivals, the away ones are against relegation candidates.
So what happens? The relegation candidates play their socks off against you, of all teams , despite having been ****-poor so far. You might even take the lead, it just doesn't matter. They will only need two chances in a matter of 5 minutes - during which 5 minutes your defence dissapears and your keeper suddenly develops eye cancer. You just can't do anything but just watch your dreams getting shattered in just a few minutes.
The home games? Ha!! Your team suddenly remembers they ought to win in order to have a shout at promotion - so they play blinders. Only problem - it's too fecking late,'cause those 6 points they gave away to the lower-placed teams (already relegated by now) were indispensible.
Now, i understand threatened teams will play their arses off - but so should my team.
Your team just isn't yours anymore, it's ran by the whims of a feckin' algorithm.
