I am finding Div 3 challenging enough at the minute in terms of financial management
<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

This seems to be one area which is head & shoulders above CM3. The rich bail out option is now gone, and to keep your club financially afloat you have to make the tough decisions.

I'm looking down the barrell of letting seven regular first team members go at the end of the season, because they are wanting too much to stay at the club. I could most likley re-sign them, but it would be to the detriment of the clubs bottom line.

I am finding reducing club debt is a nice new challenge.

Well, this game SHOULD be called Financial Manager 03-04.

The financial aspect in England lower leagues is one of the parts I enjoy best. I like taking over at a new club and immediately transfer listing lots of the big earners who thought they were indespensible to the club

Financial stuff in Scotland is less fun though when Other expenses and Ground Maintenance starts to cripple the club whatever the wage bill!

Yeah, Other expenses and Ground Maintenance are killing me off too in English Div 3. Thankfully, cups have kept me well afloat so far.

Cups may "suck ass", butI often rely on them to fund my squad for the year so if I manage to get £200,000 or whatever from a cup run or two it'll do me fine.

I even "did a Leeds United" when I was managing Halifax and ran a wage bill a fair bit over what I should have to have some more depth and quality to have cup runs to finance that bigger squad - if it hadn't worked I'd have been well up the creak without the proverbial paddle

Happily the good folk of Sheffield seemed to feel that the Vans trophy was the holy grail though so a packed out Hillsbrough was good for me

I'm going to be controversial here and say that cups, in and of themselves, don't suck ass. However, there's just too bloody many of them. That sucks ass.
I take the FA cup seriously, but the other assorted cups are just a drain on my resources. I usually play my fringe players and kids to get them competitive action, since I'm not keen on unenforced squad rotation in the league.
I wasn't sure whether to be happy or worried when Stevenage U-21s won the Vans trophy

My problem with Barnet is that i don't have that many fringe players to use in cups. Wage problems have forced me to release half the squad after the first season. So, i can only use the 5 or 6 subs i got along with a few first team members. And i just can't play Chelsea with my subs- it's too much of a temptation.
