Default Why can't my backroomstaff agree?

Hi guys,

first time post, though I've been hanging around here for some time now.

Starting in the conference, I've had 2 successful seasons, back to back champions, and I'm playing 2nd division now.
I'm quite happy with my squad, and the way they played in the 2D-screen.
I've signed a couple of (at first sight) acceptable coaches and scouts. But when I let my staff assess my players, according to them they're all sh!te. If I'm offering my fan's player of the year striker a new contract my assman says not to bother because ''we'' can easily find a replacement. But he says the same about all the players my scouts recommend.

Or in the words of an arrogant ex-Ajax en Barcelona manager (btw is trainer naming aloud?) Am I that good, or are they that sh!te?
Or is this just one of the 'joys' of LLM?

They could be rubbish.

Or it could just be human nature; how often do you agree with the opinion of your boss?

I almost always disagree with the Ass Man. Maybe that's why I'm such a poor manager

Agree with karvha. I've signed a few "Not worthy's", but they're still in the starting eleven

Never trust your AssMans; they're idiots. Never let them control contracts for Youths or Reserves either. I learned that the hard way. I couldn't count how many prospects I lost in the beginning of CM03/04 because I trusted them to keep the best prospects.

Maybe I'm expecting too much realism of a simulation game, but as a small club, with no so much cash to spare, I'd like my buy-decisions to be unanimous. I'd like both my scouting staff and my coaching staff to agree with me on a purchase that 'll cost more than 50% of my transfer budget.

My scouting staff only advise me who I should not sign, and if they recommend someone who I think is acceptable, my assman says 'he's not improving our current squad' and vice versa.
So I only buy players whom I am 100% sure of, with the result that my sometimes 8 of the first 11 in a First Division match are players who've been with me since the Conference (and still we are in second place in the 1st division, halfway the season).
The downside of all this is that apparently the other scout's think the same about my players, for nobody ever makes an offer for one of my players, leaving me little cash, thus wanting more certainty about new signings... [/rant]

Too much realism? I think it's more realistic to have them not agreeing, than to have them all agreeing all the time. Everyone has their favourites.

If someone is really class, they'll likely agree with you. Otherwise, it could be any number of things. And remember, look at an ass man's judging attributes. Are they as good or better than your scouts?

And just be happy you HAVE a transfer budget!

I don't understand you, Meneltin. Let's summarize the facts.

A.) you're second in the first division. Winning the conference, the third division, obviously going straight up through the second division too, and now still going strong.
B.) Your Assistant says, that new players wouldn't be better than the current ones.

Now, let's combine it. Your current players are winning almost every game since you started playing. How could you expect other players to be even better? I would say, your assistant manager shows lots of skill by telling you the truth.

I always consult my backroom staff and then decide I was right.
