I've played in the lower leagues many a time before being a Mansfield Town fan but this time, I'm trying to stick to Llama rules fairly rigidly.

I was given Greenock Morton to manage in the Scottish Division 3 and in my 4th season managed to get promotion to Division 2. The start has been fairly tough with us lying bottom after about 10 games but it's very close and I'm hopeful of escaping relegation. Now I'm struggling near the bottom with my *generic* system I've had from day, I've got a few questions.

The team is about 300k in debt won't give me any money to spend so I've been trawling the countries (well my scouts have anyway) I can tour (British Isles) for freebies and I've found a few good players but they seem to be drying up.

- Can I loan players under Llama rules? I always found this made the game much easier before but if I'm being too hard on myself...

- I only use the player search screen to see who is on the transfer market in the British isles as I figure, a scottish manager would have this info to hand. Is this ok?

- Any tips on finding players or am I just having the problems that any Llama playing seriously has?

Yes (as long as they're realistic)

Yes (UK and Ireland's fine), and

No (only tips in LLM are on cancer-sticks).

You are doing OK. All LlaMas struggle. That's the beauty of it.

Some stricter LLaMas (zealots) would only rely on scouts for transfers/loans, but to everyone his likings. Just remember to make it fit into a realistic way.

Reread: You haven't loaned a single player? Loaning is OK. Remember that those stricter LLaMas we talked about before (yeah, the zealots) would only loan in players from 1 or 2 divisions above the one your team is in...

Of course you can loan players, how realistic would it be if you couldn't? Where many differ is who you are allowed to loan. There are those (myself included) who will only loan players your scouts have found, others are slightly more flexible. But you have to ask yourself what you feel is the most realistic way.

Grey area. Are you sure a Scottish Manager would know exactly who is for sale across the UK? Sure, the occasional big name hits the headlines, but players in the lower leagues? Humm...

Sorry, we don't tip.

Point taken, the word tip was very badly chosen but I didn't mean tips as such, rather other ways to find players that I'm not using or other options that I'm (as a newbee) not using (ie loans, as mentioned above) when i could be.

Nice try, but that still sounds like tipping

Basically, the idea is that you find out how to play the game the best way and most realistic way that you can, rather than people giving specific ideas on which way to play.

Most has been said, but personally I feel this is a black area. Some would be known to you, yes. But the great majority would not, hence I steer away from that screen. I the only exception I have, is if my keeper gets injured and I need to get in a new one, fast. Then I search for loan listed keepers within the division above me, or lower. This is if I have no other keepers to stick in goal. 17yo's has guarded me on some occations in the past. It didn't go too well

No matter how crappy your scouts are, they can find a good number of players, and at least some of them are willing to join you.
The staff themselves I like to keep British if I am over there (which I almost always am).

Happy LLMing and Good Luck
