I'm hoping it will be half decent. I'm not quite sure why there is a mentality out there that wants CM5 to fail miserably.
If there is more choice in management sims, surely that is good for competition, and good for the consumer.
From what I've heard, FM2005 ain't magnificent from an LLM perspective, and games like TCM aren't the answer, so why would it be so bad if CM5 turns out to be a decent competitor?
For what its worth, from what I've seen I don't think CM5 will be great, but I certainly don't wish this on the developers at all.

I think you'll find we by no means want the CM brand to burn and crash.
If they iron the bugs and the cheesiness it might become a real alternative by CM7 or so.
Where would you have heard of FM2005 being difficult for LLM sides? If you're referring to the Beta Demo, it has already been stablished that it was a database composition feature. If there's anything else I've missed I'd like to know about it.
I agree that competition for SI would likely be a good thing. What's actually most worrying in that article is that the competion may never materialize. We've seen from CM4 that a new game from the ground up is likely to be buggy, so I'd expect CM6 or 7 to be the ones to judge them on. However the article says EA are a potential buyer for the Eidos business. We all know how good EA's "management" games are. If CM5 flops, CM6 may never see light of day.
Having said that, SI have done OK up to now with only minimal competition, so we likely wouldn't be worse off.
Steering this topic slightly back to the normal topics of this forum (i.e. FM2005):
So far I'm getting more and more impressed by FM2005.
More impressed by the Gold Demo then the Beta Demo.
Scouting (one of the major LLM needed features) has improved significantly and scouts now do find players from the area they are scouting and even do find, quite a lot I must admit, free players.
And I wish I could compare both demo's but so far there is only one Demo...

One of the researchers for a lower league club reckons the finances etc for lower league teams is really messed up. I'll post the link if I can find it.
