Yes, you are questioning the ethics of LLM regarding editing imo. There is no editing what so ever. Your scenario is one of the most common. You're editing the game which is not what we are about. We play the game the way SI Intended and have no use of the editor.
Tactics - fine, as long as it ain't a super tactic and you wre winning 8-0 every game.
Bragging - If you have won the WC you can say you have. You just don't need to post it in an arrogant and cocky way.
If you like to cheat as you have openly admitted in your last paragraph then this place is definetly not for you. LLM is not a light switch. You either are or you aren't.
I think you should stick around. You seem to have something with LLM, but if you just iron out some of the minor areas you will get along great with everyone here.
What Craig said with regard to editors. Whether you are using them to make the game easier or harder is irrelevant, what you are doing is changing it artificially.

quote:
Can I also ask, is it permissible to not always play LLM? Although I do love and predominately play the game as a LLM, I do every now and then run a 'cheat' game where I can get a 'quick-fix' of glory hunting football

The problem with this from my point of view, is how do you stop the one from contaminating the other? This would especially be the case if you were using unrealistic tactics and not following any kinds of scouting guidelines. Once you know of these players and tactics, the temptation will be to use them again.

quote:
Bragging: What if I do well?

Tactics, nah, I disagree with my esteemed colleague there (I can only assume he misread your post). You can develop your own tactics within the game, but using previous knowledge is akin to using previously found players.
Editors, never. It was once agreed that a colour-blind guy was within his rights to edit the colours of a red and green team so he could play the game, but the "colourblind" command rendered this invalid.
Bragging. Two examples here:
1) "After a great deal of struggle, tweaking of tactics and rearranging formation, we had a decent run in to the end of the fixture list and finished 4th in the 3rd Division. We scraped through the semi and beat River Plate in the playoff final to earn promotion at the 3rd attempt"
2) "Yes! I'm the Champman God. I got back to back promotion, won the EPL and won the Champions' Cup at the first attempt. I am so GREAT!!!"
One's bragging, one's not. Guess which?
Questioning the Ethics is a catch-all so we can ban whoever we like just 'cos we don't like their grammar or cut of their jib.
As Craig said, LLM ain't switched on and off like a bedside lamp. You is or you ain't.
Ah yes, Ian. I did happen to misread the post. Previous knowlede is a no no. I want to sign the 18 year old gem who bangs in 20 goals because my scout said, not because I had him on a previous game.
Same with tactics. I usually base my tactics around the players I currently have than the other way round.

If your looking for a low-rent bunch of no-hopers to start with, I'm sure FM2005 will offer loads of options. If not, you can always take Nobby's example and let the game run without you while you wait for a real tiddler to be promoted.

Indeed I did, and it turned out to be my best single player game in my 12ish years of playing CM.

That's the one

Erm, yes I know, I was making a very old joke....

Only one more thing to add. Once you get attached in a long term career (30+ seasons) you'll soon forget about this urge to always play in the top
The few times I got to the top division in the previous incarnations of the game (I'm not counting CM4 series as they've been rather easy) have been quite an anticlimatic situation in my experience, unless I've got there with a small club and stuck with them.
